Norman and I met not long after he moved to Los Angeles—over 25 years ago.
He had been assisting with choir directing at West Angeles Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Charles E. Blake.
The Lord put it on my heart to ask him if he knew anyone who was looking for a choir director job. He immediately said, “Yes! Me.”
I gave him Pastor Juliet’s phone number, and he became the choir director for the Church of the Nazarene for about two years. Shortly after that, he became the choir director at West Angeles Church. I used to always tell people that I was instrumental in helping Norman get his first job in L.A.
